Elsevier CPM Resource Center to Integrate Comprehensive Evidence-Based Clinical Documentation Tools into EHR at Medcenter One

CPM CarePoints™ prepares organizations now for Stages 2 and 3 of meaningful use through an advanced evidence-based clinical documentation and care planning solution.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – September 12, 2011 – Elsevier / CPM Resource Center (CPM), a leader in developing clinical decision support tools for healthcare, announced today that it will integrate its evidence-based clinical practice guidelines and documentation solution into the electronic medical record (EMR) system at Medcenter One, a non-profit integrated health system located in central and western North Dakota. CPM CarePoints, a pre-built, ready-to-implement clinical decision support solution, will be optimally designed and deployed within Medcenter One’s McKesson EMR.

“As we fully utilize our EMR system we wanted to ensure that we had high quality, clinical documentation and clinical practice guidelines built right into the system,” said Jan Kamphuis, Medcenter One’s chief nursing officer. “We already have a relationship with CPM, and we knew that evidence-based clinical content organized to support professional practice would be an even greater value to the overall organization if it was integrated into our EHR and available electronically throughout our health system.”

An industry-proven solution that can be integrated into any EHR system, CPM CarePoints provides an all-inclusive framework for implementing evidence-based care and documentation tools for nursing and allied health professionals. CPM CarePoints offers several functions, including automated electronic documentation and tools that make planning, assessing, recording and tracking recommended care steps efficient and evidence-based. Organizations can be assured they are meeting the most current quality standards and regulations to ensure compliance and improve patient outcomes.

“Through use of evidence-based medicine that is integrated seamlessly within the EMR, we will move  Medcenter One closer toward meaningful use of health information technology and meaningful care of patients,” said Diane Hanson, executive vice president and general manager for CPM. “Our solution is designed as an interdisciplinary patient care tool, so clinicians can utilize the applications for care coordination, communication and as a source of care guidance in the scope of clinical responsibility.”

CPM CarePoints can be easily built into any existing EHR system, so hospitals such as Medcenter One are able to work with CPM directly to guarantee the highest quality content and optimal electronic care planning and clinical documentation solution for their organization.

CPM and Providence Health & Services collaboration aims to improve overall interdisciplinary care and transform patient care culture

GRAND RAPIDS, MI – July 19, 2011 –Elsevier / CPM Resource Center (CPM), a leader in developing clinical decision support tools for healthcare, announced today a contract with Providence Health & Services, a not-for-profit health system committed to providing services to communities across five states—Alaska, California, Montana, Oregon and Washington—to provide evidence-based clinical content software.

Providence Health & Services selected CPM as the vendor of choice for evidence-based interdisciplinary professional practice workflow support, including clinical documentation, care planning and clinical practice guidelines for nurses and interdisciplinary clinicians in order to improve overall patient care and patient experience. Providence Health & Services plans to validate and begin using the CPM clinical content this year to support clinical scholarship within their organization. CPM’s products will be delivered within Providence Health & Services’ future acute care EHR (Electronic Health Record) system, which will begin rolling out in 2012. The organization’s Clinical Practice Transformation Team (CPTT) will engage in reviewing and validating the interdisciplinary content for use in an acute care setting, and consultants from CPM’s Transformation Services team will also work with the teams to create consistent practice adoption throughout all areas.

The adoption of CPM’s products will help Providence Health & Services to further achieve its organization’s goals, including maintaining the highest clinical standards possible, reducing variation in care delivery and empowering clinicians to practice with the best point-of-care resources. Additionally, the combination of the EHR platform and CPM’s product will also support Providence Health & Services’ acute care ministries to achieve advances in care in order to achieve nursing excellence.

With more than 25 years of experience, CPM embraces the concept of providing a culture and professional practice framework that consists of evidence-based clinical care solutions to assist in the practice transformation of hospitals. Essentially, solutions are offered to not only help standardize care across the continuum but provide superior support to point-of-care providers throughout the transition to ensure seamless adoption by the interdisciplinary team and that appropriate systems are in place to meet the goals and objectives of the facility.
