Authentic Leadership

Authentic Leadership: Ways For Executives and Managers to Cultivate Wholeness and Tap Potential in Themselves and Others

In health care, the pressure for executives, directors, and managers is growing as role expectations change and workload seems to claim larger parts of our lives. The work of successfully managing finances, leading people, and staying whole ourselves in the process is a challenge. We are expected to be change agents for improving patient care and relationships in the work place, but how can this be done? Many of us in these roles are so busy changing systems, cultures and other people that we overlook the power of changing how we are in our own roles.

In this workshop, Authentic Leadership strategies will be presented as ways to manifest courage, clarity, capacity, and hope as we seek success and fulfillment in all aspects of our work. Questions for exploration include: What assumptions do we have about our current roles and work places? In what way would our responsibilities be carried out differently if we operated from a partnership intention? What strategies would help us move from destructive cycles into constructive cycles of working and being together? What can we learn about the mission-margin dynamic and our role in it? Can we be effective leaders and experience personal peace and fulfillment? Participant wisdom will be tapped using interactive methods and dialogue skills as the group explores current dilemmas and the use of Authentic Leadership in daily role responsibilities. Participants will be able to:

  • State key learning about the realities that executives, directors, and managers are facing in the changing work place of health care.
  • Identify the strategies and skills of Authentic Leadership that cultivate personal capacity and tap human potential.
  • Articulate examples of using Authentic Leadership in daily role responsibilities.
