Healthy Work Cultures: Partnerships
Health care providers often work in stressful, unhealthy cultures. Many spend more waking hours at
work than they do in their home, community, or in play. The work culture impacts the health and
quality of each person’s life.
- The heartbeat of a healthy work place is healthy relationships.
- It takes work to initiate and sustain healthy relationships or partnerships.
- The shift from bureaucratic and hierarchical relationships to partnerships call for major personal,
professional and systems changes.
The CPM Resource Center provides resources for the fundamental, day to day work necessary to create
partnering cultures. The patterns, successes, and failures experienced in multiple clinical settings
carrying out partnership work give insight, direction, support and hope for the recipients of care and
all health care providers desiring a healthy work culture.
