Creating a Healthy, Healing Work Culture


This workshop provides an opportunity to explore the characteristics of a healthy, healing work culture: one that creates the best place in the world for any person to receive health care and the best place in the world for any provider of care to practice. It is not just a theoretical overview but an opportunity to learn about the nature of the fundamental work needed to achieve a health, healing work culture. It is based on the lessons learned in over 50 diverse clinical settings across the continent who came together in a unique consortium to implement a clinical practice framework that supports the emergence of such a culture. This workshops will provide an overview of the complex clinical issues that must be addressed to create a health, integrated, healing culture including shared purpose, partnerships, meaningful conversation, personal and team competency and the nature of services that match the needs of the individuals served. The evolution of the structures, processes and outcomes of the work over the last 15 years in multiple clinical settings across the United States and Canada will be explore. The participants will:
  • Explore the old and new patterns of thinking impacting practice and relationships.
  • Discuss approaches to clarify thing that matter most about quality health care for our society.
  • Articulate the foundational work necessary to assure continuous learning among health care providers and teams.
  • Critique interdisciplinary clinical tools and resources used by health care providers at the point of care to assure quality, individualized health care.
  • Examine infrastructures that bring providers together in partnerships within and across clinical systems.
